About the Foundation
The Dowagiac Union Schools Foundation was created in 1984 to provide funding for educational opportunities that fall outside of the school's operating budget.

The Foundation is supervised by a Board of Trustees who are volunteers from the community.

The Foundation's goal is to supplement, expand and diversify learning experiences of Dowagiac Union students.

"Helping Teachers and Students Beyond the Classroom"
Semi-annually, teachers submit applications for grant funds, which are reviewed by the Board of Trustees. Grants are based on the quality of the application, its impact on as many students as possible and the funding the Foundation has available.

•Senior Citizen Luncheons
•Performances at Mendel Center (LMC) and Miller Auditorium (WMU)
•Kincheloe School's Rocket Study
•Field Trips to places such as the State Capitol and Michigan Historical Museum; Dearborn's Greenfield Village; Kalamazoo Air Zoo Museum; Chicago's Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium and Museum of Science and Industry; Sarett Nature Center and Fernwood Botanical Gardens; Binder Park and Potawatomi Zoo; Camp Manitou & Camp Eberhardt; and University Visits.
