Dear Sister Lakes Families,
At the Dowagiac Union School Board meeting in April, it was announced that I will be moving to Dowagiac Middle School next school year to be a co-principal with Mr. Frazier. This move is bittersweet for me. As my first administrative assignment, Sister Lakes Elementary has a very special place in my heart. I’m sad to think of leaving Sister Lakes, but I find comfort in knowing that this really isn’t a goodbye, but rather a ‘see ya in a few years’ when your child moves to the middle school with me. This decision was a difficult one for me to make, but I am looking forward to working with all of the children of the Dowagiac school system. I also find reassurance in knowing that the Sister Lakes community, both in and out of the classroom, is extremely supportive of our children’s education. I have heard many different rumors about what this move means for the upcoming school year. Be assured that Sister Lakes Elementary will be open next year and the district will work diligently to provide quality leadership in our building. Being a part of the Sister Lakes community has been a rich and valuable experience for me. Much like our children, what I learned at Sister Lakes Elementary will be with me for the rest of my life; and I believe I am a better person having attended Sister Lakes. Thank you for your continued support of Sister Lakes Elementary and our kids. Sincerely, Matt Severin, Principal |
