Dear
Sister Lakes Families,
March is Reading
Month at Sister Lakes Elementary and our theme this year is "Books Don't Grow on
Trees". We have lots of activities planned at school like DEAR day (Drop
Everything And Read), Read a Shirt Day (wear a shirt with words), Story
Character Day (dress like your favorite storybook character), and many others.
Keep an eye on classroom newsletters for more information on each event.
With us celebrating
March as reading month, you'll find that your children will be very excited
about reading. Take advantage of this motivation and spend extra time
reading with your children. You can plan special activities like trips to
the library or even reading nights with the whole family choosing a favorite
book to read in front of the fireplace. Be creative and have fun with your
kids! I'd love to hear about how you celebrate reading month at home.
I'm hopeful that we
are in the final stretch of Winter. I heard birds the other morning
reminding me that Spring is close. This can be a tough month for kids when
it comes to staying motivated. It's been a long and cold winter and that
can wear on children. Keep a close eye on your little ones. Help
them to keep a positive attitude. Teach your children about random acts of
kindness, and help them find opportunities to 'make someone's day' with a kind
act. We want our kids to be SuperStars both in the classroom and out of
the classroom.
Thank you for all of
you support. Sister Lakes wouldn't be the school it is without the support
of our families.
