Thank you Dowagiac Fire Department for taking time out of your day to visit Justus Gage and teach fire safety to our students!
Dear Justus Gage Families,
I hope this message finds everyone well and sorry for the late message.
Power has been restored at Justus Gage Elementary and school will start at its normal time tomorrow. This afternoon, we positioned all students in the hallway for two reasons. Although there was no tornado warning given, all students and staff took their safety positions in the hallway. Secondly, it was also difficult to see during the storm as there was no power. Students and staff returned to their classrooms once we felt it was safe and there was enough light.
Thank you for also being very cooperative during dismissal.

Attention to JGage/Bus 1 Families.,
Bus 1 is running 15-20 minutes late because of the storm and traffic being backed up in the Dowagiac Area. All of our bus 1 students are safe and will be supervised in the gym until the bus arrives. Bus 16 and 12 students departed safely on time.

Thank you so much for the wonderful attendance as we packed the gym during Wednesday's Open House. I would also like to mention that our central air is currently working properly and the teachers have prepared ideal learning environments for our student body. The entire Justus Gage staff is very excited to begin the 22-23 school year this Monday. As a reminder, morning arrival and breakfast begins at 8:26 and dismissal is 3:37. Instruction begins at 8:41. First and second graders will be dropped off at the south/point doors, 3-5 fifth graders will be dropped off at the main entrance/office doors. If you would like your child to eat breakfast, breakfast is available from 8:26-8:41. Students will be dismissed and exit the same doors that they used for arrival. For our kindergarten students, transportation will not be provided on the first day and kindergarten students and parents are to bring their students to school at 9:40. A brief meeting will be held in the gym for our kindergarten parents. Kindergarten students will also be dismissed one hour early, (2:40) and will need to be picked up at the Early Childhood doors.

Wednesday, August 24, our office will be closed until 12:00 pm, due to Professional Development and welcoming our new staff.
The City of Dowagiac has informed us that they will be shutting power down at 12:00 pm today. We will resume offices hours tomorrow Tuesday, August 16. Have a great day!

Fifth Grade Clap-Out Reminder
When: Friday, June 10,2022
The lower elementary students of Justus Gage will line the hallways and clap and cheer for our awesome fifth graders as they walk the halls for the last time as students of our school. Our hope is that you will meet them as they exit the building. We would appreciate it if you could decorate your cars with signs, streamers, balloons and or window paint to celebrate the hard work and dedication your students have put into their elementary years. Fifth graders will be dismissed about 10 minutes earlier (11:46) than the rest of the school so be sure to get in the carline about 20 minutes before dismissal tomorrow. Once your student is in the car with you, you can parade them around the school and through the community. If you are unable to join us, or if your child will be riding the bus that day, we will wait with them until regular dismissal.
